The Temple Of Luxor

Our resort is a short ten minute walk from the legendary Temple of Luxor. One of the most famous vestiges of Ancient Egypt, the temple complex houses several smaller structures and chapels, and is situated on the east bank of the Nile. The Temple of Luxor is dedicated to the resurrection of royalty, and some historians believe that this is where the Pharaohs were crowned.

The Theban Necropolis

A short ferry ride to the West Bank, takes you to the Theban Necropolis, which includes legendary monuments dating back to Ancient Egypt, such as the Valley of Kings, the Valley of Queens, Hatshepsut and the Memnon Colossus.

The Valley Of Kings

Part of the Theban Necropolis, the Valley of Kings was the place where rock-cut tombs were constructed for the Pharaohs and aristocracy of the New Kingdom, between the 16th and 11th century BC. Several tombs have intricate designs and embellishments that reveal customs and traditions of that period.

The Valley Of Queens

This valley holds the tombs of the wives of the Pharaohs. It contains over a hundred tombs, and some believe that it was chosen due to the presence of a sacred grotto at the entrance of the valley.

Hatshepsut Temple

This ancient temple is an archaeological and architectural marvel. It is considered one of the best examples of the temples of it’s time, and is dedicated to the gods Amun and Hatshepsut. The temple is particularly notable for it’s reliefs that depict the birth of a female Pharaoh.

Memnon Colossus

One of the most striking monuments in Egypt, the Memnon Colossus features two enormous statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep, seated on a throne. They date back to 1350 BC, and are a part of the Theban Necropolis complex.

The Temple Of Karnak

Another famous monument, the Temple of Karnak, is situated just 3 kilometres away from our property.

The name Karnak, which is derived from the word Khurnak which means “fortified village,” is apt for this complex of ruins. These ruins are spread over a large area and include the vestiges of ancient temples, chapels, and other sacred structures.

In Our Neighbourhood

Beyond the rich cultural legacy that lies at our doorstep, the Iberotel Luxor is strategically situated next to several banks, and the main Souk, where you can browse a variety of stalls and shops for hours, is only a short 20 minute stroll from the hotel.
